If you’ve ever had bacon-wrapped jalapeno poppers, you should understand that they’ve got an addicting spiciness and taste. Unfortunately, it’s not the best food to have regularly since cured and processed meats are typically made with a lot of salt.

With a few trials here and there, I’ve made another bacon and jalapeno recipe that you can enjoy more often without worrying about your physical health. By toning down on the bacon and adding some more healthy ingredients, you can prepare this delectable dish while also filling your body with all sorts of nutrients.

Ingredients

You don’t need a lot of ingredients for this dish, so it’s incredibly easy to make. First, you will need around three cups of raw green beans. They add a satisfying crunch to your meal and are a good source of vitamins, fiber, and folic acid. Next, you will need one jalapeno which is actually very rich in potassium and carotene. The last few ingredients would be three slices of bacon, two tablespoons of minced garlic, a lemon, some sea salt, and ground black pepper.

Cooking

Slice open the jalapeno and remove the seeds. Next, chop the pepper into small pieces. Once you’re done with that, get your bacon and slice it into bits. Then, grab a nonstick skillet or pan and place it on medium heat. After it gets hot enough, fry the bacon bits until they get all nice and crispy.

Then, turn down the heat and add in the minced garlic and chopped jalapeno. Cook for about a minute before adding in the green beans. Keep frying for 3 to 5 minutes, or until the green beans feel slightly softer. You don’t want to fry them for too long or else the beans will get squishy and lose their crunch.

Finally, season everything with a pinch of sea salt, a sprinkle of pepper, and a light squeeze of lemon. Toss, serve, and dig in!
