Garlic Peppered Flank Steak Meal Prep
Are you tired of the same old steak recipe you’ve been having for years? Can’t go out to restaurants to enjoy some succulent and juicy steaks? If you want a delicious and savory steak recipe, the recipe is just for you! Put your apron on and that imaginary chef hat of yours and let’s make a delicious flank steak recipe!
Flank steak, or also known as a skirt steak, is a beautiful piece of beef. Skirt steak is usually much cheaper compared to more expensive steak like rib eye, or sirloin. The muscle fibers of skirt steak are much loose compared to other steaks, which is ideal for marinades and rubs to lock in flavors much easily. This may be a cheaper steak, but with this recipe, we’ll elevate it to a restaurant-quality steak.
For the ingredients, you’ll need flank steak, with its fat trimmed. For the rub, mix in minced garlic or garlic paste, smoked paprika, red pepper flakes, coarse ground pepper, and pinches of sea salt. Make sure to mix the rub seasoning well to release all the flavor.
To cook the steak, you can use the reverse sear method, in which you bake the steak until you reach your desired temperature, and searing it off in the pan to have a nice crust. But this time, we’ll just be using our handy dandy grill. Set the grill to 275°F. Add in a touch of olive oil to the steak and rub in the seasoning we have made earlier, and make sure to coat every part of the meat. Cook your steak in the grill for eighteen to twenty minutes, then flip it over to cook for additional seven minutes. Reduce the heat on the grill until the meat is cooked to your desired doneness.
Let the meat rest for a while before cutting. After that, cut the steak across the steak, garnish with fresh parsley and lime juice, and there you go! In conclusion, you’ve just leveled up your steak game with simple seasoning in your home!
- ~2lb flank steak, raw, fat trimmed
- 1 tablespoon garlic paste (or minced)
- 1 1/2 tablespoon smoked paprika
- 2 tablespoons coarse ground pepper
- 1 1/2 tablespoon red pepper flakes
- pinches of sea salt
- spray olive oil
- freshly chopped parsley
- fresh lime juice
Set grill (or oven) to 275F.
Spray the top part of the flank steaks then add the seasonings. Rub the seasonings into the meat and ensure the top side has “texture” and you can see the red pepper and pepper.
Place the flank steaks on the grill with the seasoned-side facing down (or place the steaks in the oven on a baking wire rack if you have one).
Cook the meat for about 18 to 20 minutes on the grill, then flip it over and cook for an additional 7 to 10 minutes. Reduce the heat on the grill and allow the wood pellets to smoke and flavor the meat for an additional 5 to 7 minutes, or until the meat is cooked to desired readiness.
Garnish with fresh parsley and lime juice.
Slice (cut across the grains) and enjoy!
Approximate macros for roughly 5 servings of 6oz flank steak:
