Best Protein Snack – BBQ Turkey Wrapped Asparagus
Just like salty, crunchy sweet potato chips, I cannot get enough of turkey wrapped asparagus. Easy to prepare, high in protein, includes vegetables, and most of all, delicious.
If you’re looking to add some variety and additional flavor try brushing the wrapped spears with low sodium BBQ sauce mixed with organic, raw honey to make a delicious, sweet glaze. Also try homemade teriyaki sauce, spicy mustard mixed with organic, raw honey, or even homemade lemon glaze – the options are virtually endless.
You only need three ingredients, low sodium turkey meat, asparagus spear and BBQ sauce. This healthy snack could not be simpler and easier to make.
Before you start making, preheat the oven to 450F.
Wash asparagus and remove the bottoms of them. Low asparagus pears in one slice of low sodium turkey. Place in a hot nonstick skillet and sear for only two minutes. Remove them and place on a baking rack. Rub them with the BBQ sauce, and bake for about 5 minutes at 450F.
When they’re done, serve them on a plate, and enjoy them while warm.
Each wrapped asparagus has 6 grams of protein, and 28 calories. Most of us love snacks and it is a great challenge to find snacks that are healthy, nutritious and satisfying, and because of which we will not have a guilty conscience.
This low carb protein snack is perfect as a snack between meals, also with a movie, to serve guests, or as a low-calorie dinner.
