With this recipe for Fire Salmon, which combines juicy salmon cubes with a spicy Sriracha kick, you can up your seafood game. This recipe, which only requires a few basic ingredients and little preparation time, is likely to become a favorite in your kitchen.
How to Make Salmon with Mango and Avocado Salsa
To begin, gather your ingredients: 1 pound of raw, preferably wild-caught salmon, skinned and cut into 2-inch cubes, 1 tablespoon of coconut sugar, a pinch of sea salt and pepper, spray oil, 2 tablespoons of raw butter, 3 minced garlic cloves, and 5 tablespoons of Sriracha sauce. These components come together to create a symphony of flavors that will tantalize your taste buds.
Start by seasoning the salmon cubes with coconut sugar, sea salt, and pepper. This step lays the foundation for the perfect balance of sweet and savory flavors.
Next, heat a nonstick skillet over medium-high heat and spray it with oil to prevent sticking. Once hot, add the seasoned salmon cubes to the skillet and sear them for 1-3 minutes on each side, or until sear marks appear. Be mindful of the heat, as the coconut sugar can burn quickly.
Using tongs, flip the salmon cubes over and cook for an additional 1-3 minutes until they reach your desired level of doneness. Remove the salmon from the skillet and set it aside.
Reduce the heat to low and add the raw butter, Sriracha sauce, and minced garlic to the skillet. Stir immediately to combine, ensuring that the skillet is not too hot to prevent the butter or sauce from simmering.
Once the sauce is well mixed, return the salmon cubes to the skillet and gently fold them into the fiery Sriracha sauce. This step allows the salmon to absorb the bold flavors of the sauce, resulting in a mouthwatering dish that is sure to impress.
Serve your Fire Salmon with your choice of grain or cauliflower rice and top it off with a refreshing avocado-mango salsa for a burst of freshness that complements the heat of the Sriracha sauce perfectly. Garnish with finely chopped parsley for a touch of color and added flavor.
Mango Avocado Salsa
Complement the bold flavors of my Fire Salmon with a refreshing Mango Avocado Salsa, a vibrant medley of sweet mango, creamy avocado, and zesty lemon juice. This simple yet flavorful salsa is the perfect accompaniment to the spicy kick of the salmon, adding a burst of freshness to every bite.
To prepare this tantalizing salsa, you’ll need just a few ingredients: 1 large mango diced into 1/2-inch pieces, 1 large avocado diced, juice from 1 lemon, and optional finely diced parsley, cilantro, or basil for an extra layer of herbaceous flavor.
Simply mix the diced mango and avocado in a bowl, then squeeze the juice from one lemon over the mixture. If desired, add finely diced parsley, cilantro, or basil for a pop of color and herbaceous aroma.
It’s common knowledge that smoking can cause cancer. But did you know it can cure salmon? 😎
Sriracha-Butter Sauce
One of my favorite foods is salmon and I pretty much enjoy it in every possible way – spicy salmon, smoked salmon, crispy skin salmon, poached salmon, a burger, and even fried, like in salmon fried rice. And it doesn’t take a whole lot of effort to make salmon enjoyable because its fatty flesh provides a perfect canvas for flavor.
That’s why I love this practically 2-ingredient sauce of sriracha and butter to make the perfect spicy salmon in less than 15 minutes. This vibrant and fiery sauce will pair beautifully with your favorite seafood dishes, particularly for dishes like spicy salmon, transforming them into restaurant-worthy meals that even picky eaters will enjoy.
Sriracha, a Thai hot sauce renowned for its perfect balance of sweetness, spice, and tang, is a popular choice among spice enthusiasts and surprisingly the wellness community! True story – that’s where I first learned about it, following bodybuilders and how they prepped for shows. This was a common ingredient!
It’s made from red jalapeño peppers but it’s not hot like habanero, which makes it an excellent ingredient to ramp up fiery flavors in your meals, plus the capsaicin in pepper also helps curb appetites.
The unique combination of sriracha and butter creates a creamier sauce that adds a rich and robust depth to salmon dishes but really any dish.
Unsalted butter, a common staple in many kitchens, provides a smooth base that counterbalances the heat of sriracha. It is rich and therefore enhances the overall taste and texture of the sauce. Combined with a sauce like sriracha, the result is a spicy, buttery, mix that complements the salmon’s natural flavors because, again, salmon is fatty. The result – decadence!
So with minimal ingredients needed, this sriracha-butter sauce adds an exciting “kick” to your spicy salmon recipes, or any other protein like chicken, beef or even tofu. And the mango & avocado salsa helps cool the palate so you get the sensation of hot and cold with every bite.
This is a seamless fusion of East and West, combining the traditional Asian flavors of sriracha, with the classic Western ingredient of butter.
Pro-tip: to create the perfect spicy salmon dish, remember to sear the salmon, then glaze or gently toss with the sriracha-butter sauce. This ensures the infusion of flavors into the fish, making every bite an explosion of heat, sweet, tang and creaminess!
Enjoy!

Fire Salmon
Ingredients
- 1lb raw (wild) salmon, skinned and cut into 2-inch cubes (I recommend center-cut since it is the thickest part)
- 1 tablespoon coconut sugar
- pinch of sea salt & pepper
- spray oil
- 2 tablespoons raw butter
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 5 tablespoons Sriracha
- Garnish
- finely chopped parsley
Steps
Step 1
Season salmon with coconut sugar, sea salt & pepper.
Step 2
Set a nonstick skillet on medium high heat. Once hot, spray with oil then add the salmon cubes. Sear for 1 – 3 minutes, or until sear marks appear. (Note: monitor the heat because the coconut sugar will burn so sear marks should appear faster than normal.)
Use tongs to flip the salmon over to cook for another 1 – 3 minutes until you reach your desired level of doneness. Remove and set aside.
Step 3
Reduce the heat to low, then add butter, sriracha and garlic. Stir immediately and ensure the skillet is not so hot that it simmers the butter or sauce. Add the salmon back to the skillet and gently fold into the sauce.
Step 4
Enjoy with your choice of grain or cauliflower rice and avocado-mango salsa.
Mango Avocado Salsa

- 1 large avocado, diced
- juice from 1 lemon
- Optional herb – finely diced parsley, cilantro or basil
Steps
Step 1
Mix the ingredients together in a bowl. Enjoy with the fire salmon!

This looks amazing! I can’t wait to try!
come back and lemme know how it goes!
This recipe looks amazing. The only thing is the salsa. I love avocado but not mango and my husband is the opposite. Is there other things i can put in the salsa that would possibly give the same outcome? (pineapple, pears, other fruits or veggies)
all of those fruits you listed would work! I tend to like tropical fruits like pineapple but at the end of the day, try out different fruits in these recipes – you may discover something new (just come back and tell me so I know lol). Hope you enjoy the recipe!

This looks delicious and healthy…why is the salt content so high…just curious
ah, that was a tad bit inflated. it is updated. BUT, since Sriracha is a packaged condiment, the sodium levels are a bit higher. if that’s a concern, I would forgo adding any salt to the salmon prior to searing.

I’m concerned this might be too spicy for me. What can I substitute for some of the Sriracha to turn down the heat?
yeah, it’s hard to swap with this recipe b/c it’s fire salmon and I personally havent found a mild red pepper type of sauce. but of all the hot sauces, I think Sriracha is a bit more on the milder side if that makes sense.

What can be used in place of coconut sugar?
Brown sugar or cane sugar. technically honey or agave can be used but I think the sauce consistency is a bit different AND I think those are overly sweet. you dont want a lot of sweetness. that’s what the mango is for.

I’m allergic to Salmon, all of seafood. What other meat is advisable?
I would eat whatever animal protein you already eat – should be fine!

YUMMY! I served this over brown rice; next time quinoa or bulgar…thought the rice was a bit too starchy. Loved the mango salsa, too. Thanks for a great easy dish!
