Week 1

Devotional Snippet, Chapter 1:

Pressure, stress, disappointment—if you have a pulse, you know the constant toll these take on your life. If you let them, they’ll squeeze and drain the last drops of passion and enthusiasm out of your life. I remember feeling a bit discouraged early in my fitness journey because my body was not changing as quickly as I hoped. Whatever excitement I had about transforming my physique was shriveling up like a prune. I found myself dreading my workouts, despising my diet, and simply just making it through the day. What I was once passionate about became a chore. Ever been there? That all changed for me when I realized that I could choose to either be powerful or defeated. When things look down and discouraging, it’s time to pull out the big guns and dig deep. Take a solid look in the mirror and tell yourself that you’ve got what it takes to succeed since you’ve made it this far. Look up. This is a lifelong journey, and you are running your own race. Be excited about the life you have been given. Believe for good things today, be enthused about your dreams coming to pass, and choose to be powerful.

 

Banana Split

A great treat to enjoy first thing in the morning following a workout or brisk walk around the neighborhood.

Ingredients
  • 1 medium banana
  • 3/4 cup nonfat Greek yogurt
  • 1/2 scoop vanilla isolate whey protein (no sugar, no carbohydrates)
  • 1 strawberry
  • 1/4 cup blueberries
  • 1 large tbsp granola
  • 1 tbsp dark chocolate chips
Steps

In a bowl, mix Greek yogurt with protein powder until the texture is smooth, yet thick.

Slice a banana down the middle to divide and chop fresh fruits into small pieces.

Pour the yogurt mix on top of the banana and sprinkle the rest of the ingredients on top.
