Fire up the waffle iron.
Mix together the dry ingredients in a bowl. Then mix together the wet ingredients in another bowl. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and fold together until well mixed.
Evenly divide the batter on the waffle iron and cook until desired readiness! Top with maple syrup or sautéed cinnamon apple slices (see recipe below).
Set a carbon steel skillet on medium high heat. Once hot, add butter and once it melts, add the rest of the ingredients. Stir, REDUCE the heat to low-medium and bring to a gentle, light simmer.
Continue cooking until the apples soften and they become caramelized, about 8 – 10 minutes. If needed, add tablespoons of water OR more fresh orange juice if it becomes too sticky. The sauce should thicken as it cools.
